Historical data of the Department

The Chair of Public Law was created in 1968. He was initially assigned to the Institute of Social Sciences. Since 1977 he is part of the newly founded Institute of Law, which was extended in 2011 to the Department of Law and Social Sciences. At the start the Chair was named the Chair of "Public Law and Agricultural Law". After various reclassifications in the past, he is called since the year 2014 the "Chair of Public Law, Finance and Tax Law".

First Chair was Professor Franz Schad (1907-2007), who worked until his retirement in 1975 at the University of Hohenheim. He was followed by Professor Dr. jur. Werner Frotscher (* 1937), who taught in Hohenheim from 1976  to 1983. From 1983 until his retirement in 2012, Professor Dr. jur. Armin Dittmann (born 1945) held the chair. Since 2012 exerts Professor Dr. iur. utr. Ulrich Palm (born 1969) this function.
